The Kamień Educational Pavilion

The Kamień Educational Pavilion is the flagship centre for environmental education run by the Warsaw City Greenery Authority and the heart of the Wisła District. In Kamień, we deliver nature education in the field, amidst the extraordinary natural surroundings of the ‘Middle Vistula Valley’ Natura 2000 site. It is a space for meetings, debates, the exchange of experiences, creativity and culture, open to everyone. We organise workshops, lectures, nature walks, exhibitions and concerts. We support residents’ green initiatives and collaborate with non-governmental organisations and research centres. All events are free of charge.

The pavilion is architecturally adapted for people with reduced mobility and is equipped with an induction loop for the hard of hearing.

Nature education

Visit Kamień nad Wisłą and take part in our free events. At weekends, we hold open meetings for adults and families with children on the nature of the Vistula, green spaces and animals in the city, as well as creative craft workshops. From Monday to Friday, we offer activities for groups from Warsaw schools and nurseries. All activities, along with information on registration and participation rules, can be found in the Events Calendar and on the Pavilion’s Facebook page: Kamień.Pawilon Edukacyjny.

Events Calendar

You can find all events taking place at the Pavilion in our Events Calendar.

Activities for educational institutions

In Kamień, we foster environmental awareness from a very young age. We offer a wide range of educational activities aimed at schools and nurseries in the capital. Children, including those with special needs, have the opportunity to take part in interesting nature lessons led by our educators and other experts. Registration for educational activities opens on the 20th of each month. Available activities are listed in the Events Calendar.

We also encourage teachers to organise their own activities at Kamień. We provide lesson plans for Years 1–3, 4–8 and secondary schools. We lend out binoculars, magnifying glasses, educational brochures and teaching materials free of charge. A projector, chairs and tables are also available.

Individual workshops

We invite everyone to open and free eco-workshops for young and old, nature walks, lectures, meetings with experts, family picnics and educational exhibitions. Kamień is also a space open to culture that harmonises with nature. Concerts, performances and artistic events take place here. You can find current events in the Events Calendar. Registration is required for some of them.

Aside from the workshops, we invite you to explore nature on your own. We have binoculars, magnifying glasses, educational materials and games available to borrow. Visitors, including dogs, can quench their thirst with tap water from Warsaw.

Partnership projects

At the Kamień Education Pavilion, we also share the knowledge and experience of our expert partners. We collaborate with other municipal bodies, non-governmental organisations and research centres to organise activities for children, workshops, walks and expert meetings.

You can support educational activities at Kamień financially through the Green Fund for Warsaw programme.

Your project in Kamień

Kamień is a green Local Activity Hub where the residents of Warsaw – that is, each and every one of you – can make use of the beautiful space by the Vistula River for your activities and passions.

Here, you can bring educational ideas and projects to life, such as meetings, workshops or debates, and make use of our resources – gardening equipment or educational materials. It is important that activities focus on ecology in the broadest sense, are free of charge and open to the local community. You can find details about Kamień’s resources on the Cooperative’s website.

Examples of areas of activity:

  • raising awareness and promoting good eco-friendly habits among Warsaw residents,
  • promoting knowledge about birds and the Vistula River’s natural environment,
  • promoting the protection of Natura 2000 sites and discovering the various attractions of this area,
  • promoting the use of the Vistula riverbank areas as venues for a variety of educational, cultural, sporting and recreational activities,
  • protecting and improving the state of biodiversity and the landscape,
  • supporting the implementation of eco-innovations,
  • combating climate change and adapting to climate change,
  • shaping models of sustainable consumption,
  • other than those specified above, falling within the scope of social and local initiatives, including the strengthening of neighbourly ties, local history, and the promotion of the natural and cultural assets of other regions.

The Kamień space can accommodate up to 50 people and is accessible to people with mobility impairments and hearing impairments. Projects carried out at Kamień should be open and inclusive.

Kamień Library

The Kamień Library is a project aimed at creating and expanding a collection of educational resources through the purchase of books on nature, ecology, sociology and gardening. Thanks to this initiative, the Kamień Educational Pavilion has been enriched with new, valuable publications available to anyone interested in environmental education.

* The library operates as a reading room. Books cannot be borrowed or taken out of the building.

On site, you can:

  • browse the educational materials and book collection of the Kamień library,
  • borrow binoculars and go on your own nature observation trips,
  • play board games, do jigsaw puzzles or read in peace,
  • talk to the educators, who will be happy to tell you about the local nature and its inhabitants.

Thanks to funding from the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw, our book collection has been expanded with new and interesting titles.

The project “Stone Library – creating a collection of teaching aids through the purchase of books on nature, ecology, sociology and gardening” was funded by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw in the form of a grant of PLN 9,200.00 in 2025.

About the building

The pavilion was built as part of the project entitled “Protection of the habitats of key bird species in the Middle Vistula Valley under the conditions of intense pressure from the Warsaw agglomeration” thanks to support provided from funds originating from European Commission co-financing under the LIFE+ financial instrument and from a grant from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
