The Vistula Field Information System

If you’re not sure how to get to the beach, where to find a playground, a ferry or an outdoor gym, look out for the special posts and information boards along the Vistula. There you’ll find all the information you need about key locations in the Vistula District and attractions along the river.

The Vistula Information System has been introduced along a 32-kilometre stretch of the Vistula in Warsaw. It comprises gates – ‘entrances’ to the river located at the junctions of major transport routes. The gates provide information about the location, the river’s mileage, and also indicate the way to important sites and facilities.

Between the gates, you will see posts marking trails and transport hubs. Along the paths, at key points, you can consult maps showing the entire Warsaw section of the Vistula. The maps are tailored to the riverbank on which they are situated.

Information boards are placed next to the most interesting and important sites in the Vistula District, providing basic information about these locations. They can be found next to sites of historical, architectural, technical and natural interest.

In ports and marinas, there are information boards for boaters. These contain details regarding the marina or port infrastructure. The text is large enough to be legible from a distance from the water’s edge.

Boulevards, flood defences and water transport stops also have their own signage.
